AUCTION NEWS Our third auction of Orders, Decorations, and Medals in 2008 will take place on 20th November. The sale includes many important and historically interesting lots. Here are just a few, which we hope will give you a small insight into the sale.
An Exceptionally Rare November 1942 M.C. Group of Six for the Raid on Vichy French Held Oran Harbour to Major H.V. Holden-White, Special Boat Section of No. 2 Commando, Late Royal Sussex Regiment, Who Commanded the S.B.S. in Folbots (Canoes) From H.M.S. Walney, And Who Launched Small Torpedoes from his Canoe Against a French Destroyer. The Oran Harbour Attack Was the 1st British-American Combined Operation of the Second World War, Which Also Produced a Superb Victoria Cross for Walney's Captain, And Was Described by Winston Churchill as 'The Finest British Naval Engagement Since Trafalgar' This lot comes with a substantial amount of contemporary related documentation Within this section there is also a fine run of awards for the Dieppe Raid, which includes a superb C.G.M. group of five to Ordinary Seaman T.A. Lee, one of only two awarded for the raid. A D.S.C. group of Nine to Lieutenant-Commander A.J. Lee, Royal Navy, Veteran of Dunkirk Who Had Previously Been Recommended for the D.S.C. for his Gallant Conduct During the St. Nazaire Raid.

A Fine and Rare Army of India Medal to Captain J. Paterson, 4th Bengal Light Cavalry.
Army of India 1799-1826, two clasps, Capture of Deig, Nepaul (Capt. J. Cock, 21st. N.I).
Sutlej for Moodkee 1845-46, two clasps, Ferozeshuhur, Aliwal (Lieut. J: M: Earle 24th. Regt. N:I:) This section also includes a small collection of New Zealand Campaign Medals, a notable example being New Zealand 1845-66, reverse dated 1863-1866 (Pte. W. Biggs R M -H-M-S Curacoa) 1 of only 2 known to the Navy with the reverse dated 1863-1866.

A Group of Six to Captain A.H. Quicke, Royal Navy, the lot also includes his sword Foreign Orders, Decorations and Medals A Superb Quality Order of St. Anne 1st Class Set of Insignia c.1870 by Keibel, St Petersburg in its Case of Issue, With Full Sash Riband
The Group of Honours and Awards bestowed upon Sir Robert Bredon, Deputy Inspector General Chinese Customs, present at the Defence of Legations, Pekin 1900. Over the course of his illustrious career he was honoured by no fewer than ten different countries, including China, Japan, Russia, Prussia and Great Britain. Included with the insignia in the auction are the original bestowal documents for each award.
